Hey Arbuthnot - I won't tell about you skippin' school. Just glad to see you active on the forum. Seems like our schedules haven't meshed lately...

Hey everybody - Let's not forget that GD was an experience for all 5 senses. So, to listen to a '90s show on LMA is far different from attending a '90s show.

I guess what I am saying is, don't get all offended when these geezers say the show we youngsters attended were crap.

I agree, musically you can't compare '70s to '90s. '70s shows are different and better for a muriad of reasons.

However, that does not cheapen the experiences of us younger folk who supported the band in the 'crap' years. Years some of you won't even sneer at.

The fact that we are here 11 years after Jerry's death means the later shows still touched people in a profound and lasting way.

So, geeezers, think of all the LMA friends you wouldn't have if those shows were THAT awful.

Excellent point; they were only awful to us because of our expectations, both musically and with respect to the whole scene. And as you rightly point out, both were vital or you all wouldn't be here with us today.

Ain't the forum wonderful?

There is nothing like a Grateful Dead Chat Room.

You know High Flow, you bring up a really profound point mentioning that about Jerry's death and the still very active participation in all things Jerry and GD related. I mean, just look at the fact that the LMA had to create a whole entirely separate forum just for folks to discuss the GD. And after the very general forum about the LMA, the GD forum is the second most active forum--by a long shot. This says something! Whatever your era of choice, at the end of the day, we are here, we are (hopefully) united in our love or interest or fascination about the band and all its tangential offshoots and topics. So, why dismiss someone because he/she has a preference for one era over another. It seems small-minded and petty. I'll come back at someone if they say something utterly stupid or insulting, but when it comes to logically and heart-felt opinions about the GD and their music, i'll listen up even if i don't necessarily agree.

And thanks High Flow ... yes, our schedules haven't meshed of late. However, i've got six weeks off from school (i go at night after work) starting in several days after a couple of finals and a project, and will def. be e-mailing you then, and others i haven't been in touch with.

Thanks too for getting the DVD to mcglone and thanks to him for making the copies. I owe you bigtime for that. Have watched about 1/3 of it so far, and have really dug what i've seen so far. Don't watch much video at all, and so it is extra special of you to share.
